Qualitative Wizard

To create an “Qualitative” type test the Qualitative option is selected on the Create New Test screen.

The steps involved in creating an “Qualitative” type test are:

  1. Create New Test

  1. Create Title Page

  1. Biographical Details

  1. Qualitative Item

  1. Define Test Parameters

The first step is always to create a new test.  This occurs via the Create New Test screen.

See the Create New Test option on the File Menu for detailed instructions on the use of Create New Test screen.

When the Wizard is active, the Continue Button appears in place of the Accept Button and when pressed proceeds to the next applicable screen.

Every test should contain a title page as the entry point to the test.  This page may simply display the name of the test or may include graphics, sound and instructions.

Each test should contain a final page.  This page may simply contain notification that the test has been completed but may also contain graphics and sound.

Divider pages may be placed at different points within a test.   These pages are optional.

See the Create Title Page option on the Build Menu for detailed instructions on the use of Create Title Page screen.

Press the Continue Button to proceed to the next step in the creation of a Short Answer Test.

The Biographical Details screen is used to specify the optional information to be collected for each candidate.

The screen displays tabs for accessing different groupings of information which may be selected.  For example, click on the Address tab to specify which Address Fields will be presented to the candidate for entry.  Any fields selected, except for the Middle Name and Address Lines 2 and 3 will force mandatory entry by the candidate before they will be allowed to proceed with the test.

See the Biographical Details option on the Build Menu for detailed instructions on the use of the Biographical Details screen.

Press the Continue Button to proceed to the next step in the creation of a Short Answer test.

The Qualitative Item screen is used to create short answer questions for display through the Tester program.  The question should be entered in the Enter question here text area.  A graphic and sound file may be associated with each item.

See the Qualitative Item option on the Build Menu for detailed instructions on the use of the Qualitative Item screen.

Press the Continue Button to proceed to the next step in the creation of a Short Answer test.

For each question it is necessary to specify the maximum mark that may be achieved for the short answer question.  This is done by entering the mark in the Maximum Mark Field.

See the Define Results option on the Build Menu for detailed instructions on the use of the Define Results screen.

Press the Continue Button to proceed to the next step in the creation of an Exam.

In order to prevent unauthorized access to constructed tests, passwords may be placed on the test.  The Maintenance Password prevents unauthorized access to the test through the TestKit program.  Hence it is not possible to either view or make changes to the test or any features of the test without this password.

See the Define Test Parameters option on the Build Menu for detailed instructions on the use of the Define Test Parameters screen.

Press the Continue Button to proceed to the next step in the creation of a Short Answer test.

When all the steps of the Wizard have been completed, a window appears which indicates that the Wizard has ended.

Additional options which are applicable to “Qualitative” type tests will be displayed at the top of the screen.

Before results may be displayed, results for the Short Answer should be collected through the Tester program, or entered via the Manual Entry screen and the mark Qualitative Item screens.  The Recalculate Button needs to be pressed on one of the screens which provide this selection to perform the necessary test calculations.  These screens are Manual Entry and Define Results.
